SS18 Sportswear Trends
Vogue has spoken. Here is a low down of the biggest trends of Spring Summer 2018 and how they’ve fed down into women’s sportswear available now.
- Pastel Tones: Victoria Beckham, Hermes, Tom Ford and Chanel heavily featured these soft cold tones across their lines. This trend has been translated by gymwear brand Saski Collection with their newest collection in soft lilacs, ice strawberry tones and sorbet worthy lemons.
2. Denim: Although actual denims can’t feed down into sportswear, the impression of true denim tones and shapes very much can. Mugler, Versus by Versace and Calvin Klein all brought a clean denim trend to the runways, ridding us of the distressed looks of recent seasons. Varley Athletic Wear have brought classic denim tones into their seamless range this season.
3. Sheer: Jil Sander, Dolce and Gabbana and Fendi brought sheer elements to the catwalk. This gtrend is often featured in sportswear with breathable mesh panels however this season more than ever, brands have added entirely sheer sections to garments, even using entire sheer polyurethane in outerwear for Spring. Hawaiian designed sportswear brand No Ka’oi have introduced this sheer trend into their latest range, their Mile jacket has been a phenomenal seller for the brand and put them on the map for this season.
4. Brights: Versace, Roksanda and Versace used a carnival of colours for this S/S 18 trend, clashing pillarbox reds with fuchsias and wines. New cult favourite P.E Nation has seamlessly classed all manner of colours yet still keeping a chic understated look.
